Essentially, I'm looking for any tips or heads up.
I did not know about the 3-month rule when it comes to getting an international driver's permit renewed, so when I got into an accident yesterday and the policemen in Ueda who reviewed the case were almost about to deem me as having been driving without a license. This of course is pretty bad, but after they did some asking around, they need to review further whether or not my landing timing in Japan (August 22 2023) took precedent over my former international license I had, which would then not make it "driving without a license". When I bought a new international license I thought I was OK to drive and hadn't heard about the 3-month rule where you have to spend that time outside of Japan getting said IDP before coming back and being able to use it.
My bad and I'll suck it up if they get back to me in October with that answer, but in the meantime they told me at least try to hustle to get my Gaimen Kirikae and if I can get that then I'm pretty much in the clear. Therefore if anyone knows anywhere in Nagano that can maybe be less strict about the testing than Shinonoi's location or has been in a situation where they had an IDP deemed as no-good, I would appreciate any advice.
Much appreciated.
