Should I try to move to Japan?

Hi I’m a 21m currently in the US and I’ve silently been contemplating if I should move to Japan. I’ve always loved the culture and with the increasing political tensions in the US it makes me just want to move. On a side note, I am studying Mechanical Engineering so would Japan be a good place for my field? And yes Ik Japan is still pretty closed so this would be in the future

  1. It’s tricky and you have a lot of questions to ask yourself;
    1: how long of a move?
    2: are you finished with school? Have you checked the job market?
    Teaching English is always to go to. A lot of places prefer experienced workers if you’re expanding out.
    3: How’s your Japanese? If you can’t speak outside of common phrases from anime, that just isnt going to cut it for a move.
    4: Are you okay with the cultural differences? Work culture? Social culture?
    5: Have you even paid a visit to Japan before?

    Take a step back and ask yourself all these questions and then figure out what your move will be. Take your time, breath, you’re 21. Life is ahead of you. I believe in you dude. Best wishes.

  2. I’m 29, german and thinking about moving to Seoul. In my opinion it is worth going for it. I wantend to move toba few cities within Germany and i just did it. Finding a job came second. I can’t offe you any insight when it comes to being an expat in Japan. But if you think about it constantly you should probably do it. Life is short. I’ll take the first opportunity to move to SouthKorea. But maybe that’s just me. I don’t have a bachelors degree, I’m just an electrician. 🙂
