Hello all.
I have been living in Japan for almost 10 years now, and I have never been to a nightclub here.
Back home we have some nightclubs where the age range is a little higher, between 30-50.
I (M41) want to bring my wife (F39) to a nightclub where we would not be feeling uncomfortable for being surround only by young people.
I would prefer clubs that are foreigner friendly. I want to interact with people, hopefully let my wife dance with other men. Yes, that's exactly what you're thinking, but I haven't convinced her yet, perhaps having her dancing with another men will light up a fire inside her.

ce la vie and womb come to mind for this – less so with womb
also depending on group size getting a table at any given club puts you with an older crowd anyway
If your goal is to breakup then it’s a great idea. You don’t make friends there. It is NOT what you think it is in Japan.
Awful music, awful vibe.
The short answer is: Bad
Clubs in Japan are where you go to meet the worst Japanese people and the worst foreigners in Japan.
Nightclubs generally suck everywhere unless you like certain genres of music. There will be different events for house, techno, disco, hip hop, trance, pop etc. at various clubs. You will have a much better time if you go for the music rather than for some nebulous idea of a nightclub experience. Once you figure out what genre you like, go on instagram and look around for events.
Simple solution, go to a more adult bar first and pre game THEN go to the club. Boom no longer insecure about being “older”.

BAIA is exactly the club you’re looking for. This is Reddit, most people don’t party here everyday. I do. BAIA is infamous for being a hookup club with tons of foreigners. And if you “leave” your wife unattended for even 1 minute 5 guys will try to dance with her.
Good luck, and please be safe and be sure to lay out multiple rules with your wife prior to doing this. don’t just want a hotwife. set clear boundaries and make sure she understands it’s for fun.
same as any city. if you go to a generic club for generic club vibes, it’s gonna be mediocre to bad time. however if you’re interested in music and find a cool club in your niche, you’ll be surrounded by people with similar interests there to enjoy the music and have a good time.
it is what you make it
There are two types really:
the type where people are there to flex, hit on people, get crunk, and pass out (Atom, Warp, TK, Jumanji, Baia, all the Roppongi ones etc.)
the type where people gather for the music, community, and creative expression ([my list here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Tokyo/comments/1e3lrdg/a_music_lovers_guide_to_tokyo_nightclubs/))
The first type is godawful and have been the backdrop to some of the worst nights out of my life. The latter is incredible: home to innovative and boundary-pushing creative movements unique to Tokyo that use parties to bring people together and let everyone be who they want to be.
Don’t listen to anyone here saying that it all sucks. Tokyo has some of the best nightlife in the world, on a level that any other city would be envious of—you just won’t find it on the first page of Google.
Okay on an unrelated bend. You need to think long and hard about trying to push your fetish onto your wife. It sounds like you’ve brought it up and she’s not into it and you’re hoping this will help ease her into the idea.
While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with your fetish pushing it onto your partner if they’re just not into it is a recipe for disaster. Either you resent them and they reciprocate because you won’t respect their boundaries or they give in hoping you’ll shut up about it and feel violated by letting someone they’re not interested in intimacy with be intimate with them for you. Both these options are recipes for disaster.
Given the nature of your post again it sounds like you’ve brought this up and she has given you either a soft or hard no. You need to decide if you can accept that or not and if it’s a deal breaker move on for both of your emotional health.
There probably are night clubs for an older audience. Just have to search online.
The best, least judgmental or creepy vibe with the funkiest music is in Shinjuku Nichome. When it comes to actually dancing and having fun, gay clubs are the way to go.
Otherwise, I find that shows that are particular to a niche genre (I like Drum & Bass and Jazz music) tend to have people of all ages that are there to enjoy the music.
I’d recommend Department H, once a month in Ueno.
Gimps, chains, whips, people hanging from the ceiling on hooks.
An excellent fetish club if you (or your wife) are interested to explore that kind of thing.
Go to Zero Tokyo in Shinjuku. They’re the biggest and newest nightclub in Japan. They book pretty big artists. Last time I went they had 2manydjs and it was pretty good. They have like 3 floors with five different areas, so if you don’t like one, you can go to another.
If you are in Osaka I know a lot of places that the general age range is 30-50, also with younger people who don’t mind that.
I find the more underground places with an older age range has people not wanting to hook up, just vibe to the music.
The younger places though generally can be a bit wild at times, and sometimes not enjoyable. I like going, but it’s just to get drunk and dance stupidly to chart music.
Ah actually I forgot! Maybe Maharaja in Tokyo and Osaka are right for you! It’s like a regular nightclub, with people looking to hook up and dance, but for older people. Probably most are 40+? The music is like disco, 80s kinda stuff.
