Not sure if this has been asked before, but I’m wondering if I can choose which city or region I teach in if I work with ECC. I’ve found sources that make it sound like I can, but I’d like to know for sure. I’m looking for Tokyo/Kanto Region. I know they give you your placement three months before your start date, but honestly I don’t care what part of Tokyo I’m in so that doesn’t bother me as much… as long as it’s in Tokyo.
If ECC doesn’t allow it, is there another eikaiwa that does? Or even a program that hires ALTs. Honestly nothing is set in stone at this point so I’m open to all input.
Thank you!~

They do hire regionally but if you get it is the luck of the draw. Also, you’d probably have a higher chance of getting what you want if you already had a visa.
IMO, don’t waste all your time and effort trying to accommodate your SO. You should break up with your SO and sample the local dating scene.

It sounds like you’re trying to just move close to your SO as opposed to find a fun job/experience the culture, which will only make you miserable in the long run

Be careful. There are some pretty out there parts of Tokyo where transportation is horrible and there’s nothing to do.
And that’s before you uttered the words “Kanto region”.
