Itinerary check – Honeymoon in October – Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto, Osaka and Kanazawa

Hi everyone,

My fiancée and I are planning our honeymoon in October. We have flights, hotels and some restaurants booked. This is the first time in Japan for both of us. Let us know what you think!

Day 1: Mexico – Tokyo

–        Arrive in Narita 6 am. Send bags to hotel with Yamato. Activate iSim. Buy Suica or Pasmo card.

–        Explore Tsukiji market (given the hour, I think this is the only viable thing to do)

–        Travel to Akihabara and explore

–        Check in at hotel (The Okura Tokyo)

–        Explore Roppongi hills, Tokyo Midtown or Mori art Museum

–        Dinner at Sushi Inomata

Day 2: Hakone

–        Take train to Hakone

–        Hakone Open Air Museum

–        Ryokan Gora Kadan

Day 3: Asakusa/Ueno

–        Train to Asakusa Station

–        Kaminarimon gate, Nakamise dori, Senso-ji, Kappabashi Dougu St.

–        Travel to Ueno; Explore the park and museums

–        Check in at hotel (Hoshinoya)

–        Dinner a L’effervescence

Day 4: Kamakura

–        Day trip in Kamakura

–        Dinner at Nikuya Tanaka

Day 5: Shinjuku/Ginza

–        Explore Ginza; Itoya, Beams, Kiya, Uniqlo

–        Travel to Shinjuku; Gyoen national garden, batting cages, Isetan, Kinokuniya, Takashimaya

–        Lunch at Tonkatsu Narikura

–        Kabukicho, Omoide Yococho, Golden Gai

Day 6: Ebisu/Daikanyama

–        Explore Ebisu and Daikanyama all day

–        Mori art Museum and Roppongi hillls (if we skipped them 1st day)

–        Dinner at Sumibi Yakiniku Nakahara

Day 7: Nikko

–        Day trip to Nikko

Day 8: Shibuya/Harajuku

–        Meiji-jingu shrine

–        Takeshita street and Cat street Harajuku

–        Walk Omotesando

–        Nezu Museum

–        Walk or subway to Shibuya

–        Explore Shibuya; Hands, Parco, Shibuya loft, Miyashita park, Nintendo, Scramble crossing

Day 9: Fushimi Inari

–        Early train to Kyoto

–        Fushimi Inari

–        Tofuku-ji

–        Nishiki Market

–        Check in at hotel (Okura Kyoto)

–        Walk Kiyamachi Dori, Pontocho, Shirakawa Lane

–        Dinner at Kiyama

Day 10: Eastern Kyoto

–        Taxi to Ginkaku-ji

–        Philosopher path with stops in; Nanzenji, Shorenin, Chionin, arrive at Kodaiji through Nene-no michi

–        Isibekouji street, walk Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka

–        Kiyomizu-dera

–        Walk back through Hanamikoji and Shirakawa

–        Dinner at Kyoboshi

Day 11: Nara

–        Day trip to Nara

Day 12: Arashiyama/North Kyoto

–        Taxi to Kinkaku-ji

–        Taxi to Ryoan-ji or Ninnaji

–        Taxi to Otagi Nenbutsuji, walk to Adashino Nenbutsuji

–        Walk to Saga Torimoto, stop at Gioji temple

–        Bamboo forest? Okochi Sanso garden

–        Walk to Tenryuji, walk to Togetsukyo bridge

–        Dinner at Velrosier

Day 13: Naoshima

–        Early train to Okayama

–        Stop at Korakuen garden

–        Train to Uno and ferry to Miyanoura

–        Rent bikes at port

–        Explore Naoshima; start with Art House project, continue south to Chichu art and Bennese House.

–        Train back to Osaka and check in at hotel (Centara Grand Hotel)

Day 14: Osaka

–        Osaka Aquarium

–        Janjan Yokocho shopping street

–        Walk through Shinsekai to Tsutenkaku, keep walking till Nipponbashi Den den town, Kuramon market, Sennichimae Doguyasuji and Uranamba, Hozenji Yococho

–        Dotonbori, Shinsaibashi-suji and Amerika-mura

–        Chill at hotel

–        Back to Dotonbori for drinks and dinner

Day 15: Kanazawa

–        Train to Kanazawa

–        Check in at hotel (The Hotel Sanraku)

–        DT Suzuki museum

–        Ninjadera

–        Naga Machi district

Day 16: Kanazawa

–        Omicho market

–        Oyama shrine, Gyokuseninmaru garden, Kanazawa castle, Kenrokuen garden, Seisonkaku villa

–        21st century museum

–        Higashi Chaya district

–        Dinner at Sushi Kibatani

Day 17: Tokyo

–        Early train to Tokyo

–        Flight to Bangkok
