  1. Not a victory really, but I started Genki I today. For me, this is a victory because I managed to motivate myself to actually touch the book and try to learn! I also have learned ひらがな and カタカナ quite well and I feel I actually know the symbols. I learned the kanjis for the numbers, and some easy words like 私、彼、好き、日本、勉強、兄

I havent been organized really, just learned some word I saw but now I will try to follow the textbook explanations and then do the workbook activities

    Any tips for beginners?

  2. Small victory this week but felt so good. When I started a few months ago I hopped on Tadoku almost immediately to try reading, and the first booked that popped up was a level 1 – チワワの花すけ At the time I didn’t know level 1 was actually sort of the third level and upon attempting it I was SO defeated. I was frustrated and felt I should be able to understand such a simple book

Well yesterday after a few months of study and making my way through all the Level Start and Level Zero books, I reached level one and immediately took a stab at チワワの花すく again.. and it was so easy! Sure there were a small number of words I didn’t recognize, but I knew almost all of them and reading the book was a breeze. Feels so good to know I’ve made good progress!

  3. My Japanese is not as crappy as last week. 🙂

Yesterday I learned about “I” pronoun, and how men say “*Ore* 俺” and not gimpy “Watashi 私”

  4. There’s this Japanese artist that I follow on Instagram and I managed to sort-of understand one of their comments under one of their posts!! (More or less – I got the general gist at least).
