Does anyone have experience booking Omoren car using credit card (Visa/Mastercard) that works like e-Wallet such as Wise or Revolut? I've been using a similar wallet card for several trips in Japan with no issue, but now I'm going to book Omoren and the English-version website which strongly warned about the use of debit card or credit card with prepaid/debit function.
I understand the amount will be held against the credit limit until the settlement when the car is returned. Using debit card/prepaid card means the money will be deducted right away. We think this is not an issue, in the case of cancellation the amount should be reversed back to the card (or at least it's what we experienced with other merchants).
However, the Japanese version of the website indicates "The system does not support credit cards with debit functions that can be used in the same way as credit cards, or prepaid credit cards, so registration and use of such cards is strictly prohibited. (If such a case is discovered, unconditional cancellation and refunds will not be accepted.)" In the English version, it's as simple as debit card is not allowed.
I prefer the wallet-type cards for the good exchange rate and no transaction fees, as compared to regular credit cards, so I'd like to know if anyone encountered issue using e-wallet/prepaid credit card with Omoren.
