Hi all, my partner and I are traveling to Japan for the first time and are still trying to figure out our itinerary. This is our first time planning an international trip as well.
We would also love any recs for a flea markets/thrift stores in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka.
Anything that is italicized is a “maybe”. The bold items are things we for sure want to do, but are willing to move it to a different day if need be.
OCT 2nd – Wed
- Staying in Minato City
- Land at Haneda 5pm
- Check into hotel probably around 8/9 depending on how long it takes to leave the airport, luggage, customs, get to hotel, etc.
OCT 3rd – Thurs
- Visit Shibuya and Harajuku
- Maybe Shinjuku this day or Friday
- Drop by Harry Potter Cafe in Akasaka or Gonpach Nishi-Azabu in Roppongi
OCT 4th – Fri
- Visit Mount Takao early morning
- Sanrio Puroland
- Akihabara – Yodobashi Akiba
- Visit Shinjuku or Ginza after Puroland?
OCT 5th – Sat
- Visit Chiba
- Hike Mount Nokogiri in the morning and eat lunch at a nearby restaurant
- Make our way back up the coast and stop by Tokyo-wan Kannon
- Ride the suspended monorail
- Visit areas near our hotel – Tokyo Tower?
OCT 6th – Sun
- Visit Asakusa
- Eat at Asakusa Sumo Stable for lunch
- Imperial Palace
- Tokyo Street Kart in Koto City at 6pm JST
OCT 7th/OCT 8th – Mon/Tues
- Tokyo Disneyland/Disneysea
- Any food/snack recs for either park would be great!
OCT 9th – Wed
- Travel to and stay at ryokan onsen in Hakone
- If we leave Tokyo early, we’ll go to Hakone Open-Air Museum before check in
OCT 10th -Thurs
- Leave Hakone towards Kyoto
- reserve our JR pass ahead of time or purchase it day of?
- Check into Kyoto hotel (staying in Shimogyo Ward across the river from Gion)
- Toji Temple
OCT 11th – Fri
- Visit Mount Hiei early morning
- Shugakuin Imperial Villa
- Visit areas around our hotel in the late afternoon/evening
OCT 12th – Sat
- Visit Arashiyama Bamboo forest early morning
- Fushimi Inari Taisha in the afternoon
- Visit Gion
OCT 13th – Sun
- Stay in Kyoto during the morning and head out to Osaka late afternoon?
- Check into Osaka hotel (staying in Namba)
- Osaka castle
- Visit Dotonbori
OCT 14th – Mon
- Visit Kobe or Nara?
OCT 15th – Tues
- USJ/Horror Nights all day
OCT 16th – Wed
- Head to KIX in the afternoon
