I am starting my Japan Trip in Tokyo and I wanted to go back to Kawaguchiko and also travel to Hakone this time as I missed it last year. I am planning to do it as a 3 day / 2 nights trip from Tokyo and leave my things at my hostel and only pack a Backpack.
My plan is using the Fuji-Hakone Pass and stay one night in Hakone and one night in Kawaguchiko. I was also thinking on visiting mt. Takao on the way back from Kawaguchiko to maybe save some time and money.
My current rough plan:
- Day 1
- Travel early in the morning to Hakone
- Go to the Hakone Checkpoint and Shrine
- Travel with the Pirate ship to Togendai Port
- Go on the Ropeway & visit Owakudani
- Visit the open air museum if there is still time left
- Day 2
- Go from Hakone to Kawaguchiko Station using the Bus
- Visit Iyashi-no-Sato
- Yagizaki Park
- Arakurayama Sengen Park
- Go to the Hostel in Oishi to check in
- Explore a little in Oishi
- Day 3
- Check out maybe things I missed in day 2
- Travel to Otsuki station and go to Takao
- Mt. Takao
- Go back to my Hostel in Tokyo
I think using the Pass for my 3 day trip should be more than worth it.
I also have a few questions about this plan.
Is it a little bit too packed for a Hakone / Fuji trip?
Are there any extra fees I should know about when using the Hakone/Fuji pass?
Has anyone experience with using the Bus to travel between Hakone and Kawaguchiko?
Does anyone have any recommendations what else I could go see in Hakone or Kawaguchiko?
