I have a question relation to social security. Let’s assume you are a US citizen living in Japan. You moved to Japan because you married a Japanese woman and you got a Japanese job, thus paying into the Japanese social security system.
If a couple years later, you accept employment from US company while still living in Japan (so now you have 2 jobs, the initial Japanese employer job and the US employer job) while also doing freelance work on the side with US clients, do you have to pay social security taxes to US at all? Does receiving a J/USA 6 form from your Japanese employer totally exempt you from social security taxes on the US side because you are already paying taxes in Japan on all your income and also already covered by the Japanese pension system? Thank you
