SOS!PLEASE HELP!

Everyone who sees this, please help me. My wife disappeared while diving at Manzamo on the evening of August 21. I have already contacted the police and the Coast Guard, but the search has yielded no results so far. I would like to ask friends who have been active on the beaches in the north of Onna Village in the past two days to help me spread this call for help so that more people can see it. Thank you.

  1. Fuck…I am so sorry.
I really hope your wife is found safe! I’ll share this with my friend who runs a diving shop who operates in the area.

Edit: My friend says the current in that area can be strong (from what I see on https://earth.nullschool.net, it looks like the current goes northeast), but her company is currently only doing dives at the Kerama islands. The search area may need to be expanded to around Nago and Motobu if they’ve only been searching around the cape.

I can’t even begin to imagine what you’re going through right now. I don’t know if I can be of any help, but DM me if you need anything.

  2. Out of curiosity, how did she disappear? Normally you don’t dive alone, and if she isn’t local then she was most likely with a dive master or instructor.

That being said, best of luck and hope she is found safe and sound.

  3. Okinawa is a wonderful place, I hope that this will be sorted out with good news soon and that this will just be a distant bad experience looking back in a few years
    Good luck

  4. I sent this to the dive shop I use and shared it with a Facebook group. Please update, hopefully with good news. 🥺🙏🏻

  5. We used to live in Shanghai, but because we couldn‘t stand the political environment and epidemic policies in China, we moved to Okinawa. It was not smooth at first, but she loves the beautiful sea. This year we started operating a guesthouse, and things have just started to improve. She is a clean and tidy person, and we try to help guests in difficulty or in need as much as possible. Our house received a full score evaluation. She is also very caring, we adopted three cats, the oldest of which has been with us for 11 years. She is a good person, and she made friends from the United States at language school. Now I just hope she can come back, and I am willing to give up everything to make it happen.

  6. Just out of curiosity, was this a beach dive, or from a boat? Did she carry a SMB?

I hope she is found soon.

  7. I just reread the news to get the facts straight.

    -Self diving with no instructor
-entry at 5:40 pm, so dusk/night diving
    -woman lost at 5:50pm
-first call to emergency at 7:40pm

Did you guys have SMBs and lights? How many logged dives do each of you have? What took you so long to call for emergency?

It must be a stressful time now, but as a fellow diver, I want to know the details, as it could happen to any of us.

  8. Though I’m not able to help physically from
Canada, I hope your wife is found as soon as possible and you’ve got my prayers behind you.

  9. Not to be rude, but I think you should post this on another place with more Japanese people, because I don’t think most Japanese people look at Reddit.
Sorry for not being able to help but I will certainly try to send this around

  10. I truly hope you find her safe. I also wonder if she’s somewhere closer to Motobu or Nago. Stay strong my friend x
