I’ll be traveling to Japan over the holiday season December 19th-January 2nd.
Osaka -> Kyoto
Kyoto -> Tokyo
Tokyo – Lake Kawagochiko
Since New Year’s in the country is celebrated going to temples / spending time with family + and a lot of things tend to be closed. I thought going to Lake Kawagochiko to explore and stay at aRyokan for the last two days of my trip would be a good way to unwind and relax.
However, I’m just concerned about getting back on time on January 2nd as my flight leaves at 6pm this day. (Ideally would want to get to the airport by 3pm). Will the trains and buses be operating per usual? In my mind I would probably opt to just take the earliest bus / train back to Tokyo to avoid any delays on January 2nd.
I thought of ending my trip in Tokyo for the last 4 days of the trip as an alternative, but since things are closed I don’t want to miss out on all the things Tokyo has to offer.
