For people who regularly go to the gym in Japan:
Have you noticed that Japanese men at the gym tend to throw around weight with improper form?
At first I saw some younger men do it (18-23) and I thought back to when I first started lifting; I would lift above my weight and sacrifice form.
But lately I've noticed even older men who are more built (30-50) who are smashing weights with terrible form. It concerns me and I want to offer tips / advice but I'm not sure if that would be a weird thing to do especially since I'm the only foreigner who goes to that gym.
Any advice?
(Side note I have been lifting for over a decade and am familiar with gym etiquette in the US just not Japan)
EDIT:
The good advice I gathered:
Rehtorically approach carefully and start a relationship of some sort first maybe a passing あついですね or asking for a spot a couple times.
You should probably let older people make their own mistakes but younger people might be more open to advice especially if your body suggests you know what you're talking about.
If someone is in imidate danger because of horrendous form you should alert staff.
Now for some obvious that I feel need to be said after reading the comments:
Do not nitpick anyones form EVER unless you are 100% positive your input is valued. This post was regarding peoples form that was so bad they're risking injury.
Don't speak up about anything if you're not very well informed, this is especially true in this environment where wrong advice could get someone seriously injured.
The general idea in Japan is mind your own business, but don't let that stop you from doing the right thing or from engaging in your daily life.
