So once upon a time, I lived in Kyotango for three years about thirteen years ago, and one of my dearest friends still lives in the Tokyo area, but neither of us have ever explored Tohoku. I'll be coming out to visit in early November, and we were planning to take my last weekend there to go visit a few places with her kids, but we're still trying to figure out exactly where. Obviously we need to figure out places around maybe two major areas at most (as I only have two days.) I have some ideas, but I'd love to hear more!
This is what's on my possible list at the moment:
- Abukuma Caves (friend's kid's idea, looks cool, but it's kinda out of the way)
- Chuson-ji (Sounds interesting, but further down my list)
- Ryusendo Caves (Also sounds great)
- Sannai-Maruyama Special Historical Site
…aaaand that's it. The furthest north I've been is Nikko, so any ideas you all have would be wonderful. I'm thinking maybe one day in Aomori and another somewhere else, but that's certainly not set in stone.
Thank you!
