Itinerary for 16x day Trip Japan (April)

Hi

I am traveling to Japan for the first time next spring and have planned for the following itinerary. Would really appreciate any thoughts or additional recommendations.

Also have two general questions:

Is it easier to rent a car or just Uber/public transit areas like Fuji and Kyoto which don’t seem to have super great rail systems (e.g. 10 minute drive vs 30-50 minute public transit commute)?

Is it worth purchasing the bullet car train tickets now while the yen is cheaper or OK to wait until 3-4x days before travel date to still get the discounts? Not sure what days are going to look like exactly so slightly hesitant to lock in the exact timings/tickets now but will if it’s a much better deal/significant savings.
