Moving to Osaka

Gonna be moving next month as I get out of the military. Already have a job secured and I'm in the process of getting a tourist visa, and then a long term residency visa(my mother is Japanese). I still haven't found a place to live yet but I've heard it's fairly easy and cheaper than where I am now(Okinawa). I'm not really sure where to look for a small apartment and I've never been to Osaka so I'm a little nervous about going there. Is there anything I should know before I go and does anyone have suggestions on how to find am apartment out there? I'm also fluent in Japanese.

  1. when i lived in osaka, i stayed at a place called orange house. the company that runs it runs a handful of guest houses in osaka that cater to people living long term. very affordable and the people running it are really kind!
