Anyone got COVID recently who lost their sense of smell and taste?

Hi everyone.

My wife got COVID a week ago and we have been in quarantine since then. I also got it from her I think. I lost my sense of taste and smell completely. She also lost a bit but still can smell and taste a little. I don’t know which variant this is.

When did you regain your sense of smell and taste?

  1. I lost my smell when I had COVID in March. Took around a week to come back (around the same time as my blocked/runny nose got better)

  2. Several months back I lost a lot of my smell and taste and came down with high fever but PCR test came out negative and I recovered 2 days later (including the smell and taste)

  3. Took me about 10 days to regain most of my taste. Still after a few weeks feel it is somewhat off but I could be imagining things and my cooking skills have deteriorated.

  4. My wife also completely lost her smell. Was shocked since she was super sensitive but she got it back after about 10 days

  5. My girlfriend caught covid about a month ago, her senses got pretty dulled for about 3-4 days but never completely went away.

  6. My taste/smell returned within 2 days after disappearing (Omicron).

My sister’s taste/smell returned after 2-3 months (Delta).

  7. Yes I did, I got it like 1 month ago and I still have some difficulties with some aromas. Like morning coffee the source of life.

  8. I had it a few weeks ago – lost my smell and taste for a few days then it came back… had an annoying cough for longer than I would have liked too. Full recovery now.

  9. inb4 this gets removed because you’re meant to post this in the COVID megathread

My sense of taste was at about 80-90% for maybe two weeks after my other symptoms subsided. Just enough to be kind of weird and frustrating.
