The G1 is raging on. And we've had some very strong matches and seen a ton of guys pushing to breakout in the tournament. While I was watching the recent show I realized something.
This could be the first time in a while the G1 winner could lose their shot at the dome in the fall since 2020.
This is the year they could do it with the G1 being somewhat open. And they don't have those top stars that are guaranteed a top spot at the dome like Naito atm.Naito would need to be champion leading into the dome.
In 2020, Ibushi lost the briefcase to Jay White. But at the time they had the two nights at the dome. And they had a stronger main event scene so they were fine since Naito/Ibushi/ Jay were there top guys in the main title picture. The fall has always been a somewhat weak time for them. Most of the time we would know who are going to have a major role at the dome with the main title and second title.
