/r/JapanTravel hits 2 million subscribers!

We have some exciting news to share: As of this week, r/JapanTravel has officially reached 2 million subscribers! This is quite the achievement! To take a look back, in November 2017, we celebrated our 50,000th subscriber, and in September 2019, we celebrated our 1,000,000th subscriber!

Even though Japan still puts restrictions on individual tourism, we want to thank you all for supporting our subreddit, providing content, and supplying answers for people planning their dream trips to Japan. We’re all looking forward to the day we can revisit, but until then, we’re glad to have a community to share our excitement with.

In anticipation of more activity here as tourism resumes, we have added three new moderators to the subreddit. Please welcome /u/Tapiokuma and /u/Wyetro, as well as /u/himekat, who is rejoining as a mod after some time away. We also have plans to overall and update the wiki with fresh content, and hopefully post some more megathreads and discussion-generating content.

Some further news – we plan to bring back the monthly meet-up thread as soon as this will make sense, taking into consideration Japanese government guidelines regarding tourism.

We would also like to remind new users that we do not allow posts regarding entry conditions and visas outside of the designated discussion threads, and we will also continue to remove any questions regarding designs to circumvent Japanese immigration law.

As always, if you have specific ideas for things you’d like to see, don’t hesitate to send us a modmail!

Happy travels,

The JT Mods
