Please save your stories of “heh, you should see how bad the trains are in my home country” this is Japan. Let’s stick to the Japanese standard.
I’ve noticed consistently now the trains on JR, specifically the Nara line will be delayed. This past rainstorm they delayed trains by over four. Hours. Keihan, who operates on nearly the exact same route? Normal schedule.
JR west has caused me to be late to work several times this year.
And that’s not even to speak of the stations themselves. Every time I enter a Keihan station, it’s like a breath of fresh air. Vending machines with cold drinks. Plenty of seating and shade. JR designs their stations to be more like prisons. No seating. No vending machines. Minimal shade.
