Wondering about this approach to finding work for a future working holiday

Hiya, I’ve been considering doing a working holiday in Japan for a while now and after a recent trip I’m pretty interested. My Japanese is very beginner, I was able to get by while I was over there but now I’m committing more time to studying.

I especially loved Aomori and I’d love to work in the city and spend more time around the prefecture. I figure private English language schools are probably my best bet for employment, I used to tutor younger kids during high school and I’m a native English speaker in Australia.

Would cold emailing the various language schools with a cover letter/ resume around the city be a good way to find work? Or should I be looking for an agency or advertised openings on indeed?

Any advice on whether or not I should be emailing now with the intention to move in a year or so? I imagine native English speakers might be in higher demand up there.

I notice most of the language schools seem to be for younger kids, is there an equivalent to a working with children check over there? Can I get one in Australia before my trip?

I’m just not sure what the best way to approach this is as I’ve never looked for work overseas like this before and I think some anecdotal advice would be really helpful.

Thank you (:
