Has anyone tried monthly mansions?

Hi all, happy Friday!
I currently live in the sticks in ibaraki but will need to go to Yokohama everyday for about a month.

My friend told me to look into monthly mansions as they are cheaper than hotels. Just wondering if anyone has tried it and have any recommendations?

Thanks!

  1. I have stayed at monthly and weekly mansions. Yes it ends up being cheaper, and more convenient with a kitchen and washing machine, but also way less convenient to get in and out compared to a hotel. For example, it takes some time to finish the application process, and it’s possible to get turned down for various reasons.

Never used one in Yokohama, but here’s a site with weekly and monthly mansion listings. The search page is for a single person.

  2. Just get a Leo Palace for a month. This is why they exist. They’re built from paper though….

  3. I lived in one for about 2 months, somewhat near yokohama actually. It’s cheap, convenient, but pretty bare. The utilities vary and I wouldn’t treat it like a home more like a hotel you have to clean yourself.

  4. [https://www.good-monthly.com/](https://www.good-monthly.com/) is a popular website for monthly mansions. They also have a “foreigner friendly” filter. Apartments are usually tiny. If you care for a view, better triple check with Google maps on where that apartment might be. I’ve seen rooms with balcony, that got zero sunlight due to how boxed in they were. You wouldn’t be able to tell that from any of the pictures posted, but the apartment layout was only possible in one “hidden” place. I get the impression that to some extend monthly mansions are used to get rid of otherwise hard to rent out apartments. There are also places where the entire building is made for short rentals.

  5. I’d recommend to stay away from sumyca / matsuri. The apartments are fine, but they will completely ignore you if something goes wrong during your stay (air conditioner etc..).

  6. I just finished a 3 and a bit month let with rent-life in shin Yokohama. Think they do shorter lets than that. They were v easy to deal with, responsive to one small problem, and the apartment was quiet (concrete walls) would recommend!

  7. Go for it. A hotel for a month sucks. The monthly mansions are way better and more comfortable
