I've seen this movie and searched what people say about the movie.sadly no one posted about this movie and can only find one post only on this sub.thats why I'm posting here.
And almost everyone on comments of this movie in YouTube and everywhere thinks the mother is evil.I don't think she is evil,
She don't know how to live,and take care of her children.when her boyfriend beats her cause she's pregnant and leaves her .she choose to give birth.
when her parents didnt believe she's pregnant shuhei goes to try again she stops and hugs hims.she only have her son who truly loves him.she choose not to go to her parents home .even homeless she didnt abandon them.
when akiko sees the welfare people talking to the kids she gets scared and angry because they can separate her from her kids whom she only has left.
when shuhei's boss argue she yells she didnt tell him to steal she never taught him to steal .at the end she takes bad decision. she says there are no other ways and they don't have any money .i would say she already lost all love for her parents when they sent shuhei away .
End:
At the end shuhei says he loves his mom because his mom has nothing and gave all her love to her son which she only have , And can give
Aya helds akikos hand because she sees a lonely mother who lost both of her children.who are her only family . aya already seen akiko being beaten and helpless
All plots and context from sites says akiko as mother who casually have sex with everyone.but I think she does that because she doesn't have anything to give and hoping they could become a family but only to realize they could never be

I'm making this post cause if someone in the future saw the movie and searching what people say about it or thought akiko as same like me.and this post may seem long and waste for many but I wanna share what I've seen and felt from this one
I really expected and wanted shuhei to join or see his mother after 14yrs.i can't even search if writer said anything about what would have happened after 14yrs
