I work as a teacher and will potentially be changing jobs soon, my future employer (not in Japan) requires a police background check.
I understand it takes a bout 3 weeks, but that is about as much as I know. Any other helpful information would be useful.
I am not a Japanese national.

I don’t know if it’s the same documentation, but I did a police check (犯罪履æ´è¨¼æ˜Žæ›¸) earlier this year for a visa application and while it was annoying to have to go all the way to the prefectural office to do it in person (and again to collect 2 weeks later), the procedure itself was pretty simple. All that was required was my passport, drivers license and a document showing the reason for the request.
You won’t be able to get that for a job application. Japan only issues them for the purpose of submitting to a foreign government entity (that would include visa applications etc.)
