So yesterday I had an in-person final interview with AEON, and have some questions just about smaller practicalities of working at one of their schools.
Have you ever had to take work home (like planning)?
Have you found it better to be the only foreign teacher at a school or to be with someone else? In my interview I was asked if I would mind being the only foreign teacher. I said sort of in the moment that I don’t mind, but thinking on it I feel like it could be quite lonely being the only native English speaker as I’m a very chatty person. I understand that having another foreign teacher doesn’t guarantee that you’d get on, but I’m interested to get people’s perspectives!
I’m a woman – the dress code is strict, and I was told in the interview that I would need to wear a more natural foundation shade (I’m a goth, so just grab whatever is palest lol). Do any female teachers currently working at AEON have any advice generally for how to dress? I understand the suit protocol, but this is a very different aesthetic space to what I’m used to.
I’ve requested to be in Tokyo, in the Setagaya City area as I have a friend living in that area already. Does anyone have experience with any AEON schools in this area?
Thank you so much in advance!
