how did 丮 turn into 丸 in 熱?

i'm reading up on the origins of 熱 and how 埶 is just the phonetic component + the radical for 火. wiktionary says that 丸 evolved from 丮, meaning "to hold," and that 埶 originally meant "to plant," but apparently now means art/skill. i'm curious as to how we got 丸, and also how 埶 came to mean art/skill, which is what it seems to mean today.

does anyone have any input?
