Hi, new to reddit but thought this may be a good idea as a post as I read JapanLife daily.
I filed Divorce 10 days ago. Notified Immigration today which went 'ok'.
However, everything I have read online and heard from people around me stated I would have 6 months to remain in the country after divorce, so i had made plans around that time schedule.
The Immigration officer told me I would need to leave within 3 months. So I very shocked and confused. My Japanese is very limited and so was his English, which made the situation more difficult to understand.
My residence card and passport remain untouched (no new stamps etc) so it is really hard to confirm what is correct and what is not.
I hope someone here has some reassuring
information.
