In Japanese, does the greeting come before name?

I’m going to try to explain my question the best I can. So when greeting someone or saying goodbye to someone in Japanese which one would be preferred or which one flows better: Konnichiwa, (persons name here) or (persons name here), Konnichiwa. I know in English most people greet with hello first and then the persons name instead of the persons name and then saying hello (so like Hello, John instead of John, Hello). I was wondering which way is used more in Japanese.
