How prevalent is the aversion to strong fragrances and deodorants etc? The "nuisance of strong scents". Is there anything akin to this in the US? Maybe how an American would have felt when someone were to fire up a cigarette in (what used to be) the no smoking section at a restaurant?
Context: have been to Japan once 3 weeks ago for business. Several nights in Kawasaki and several in Shibuya.
