Shikoku Itinerary Check

Hi all! Here’s what I’m planning/would like to do for Shikoku. We’re spending a few days each also in Tokyo and Kyoto but this is our fourth trip to Japan so I’m comfortable with those but would like feedback on Shikoku since I’ve never been!

We’re pretty much going to stick to the north coast since that’s where the trains are and we’re not planning to rent a car.

Would love any feedback or especially food recommendations! I really want to visit Kochi for the Hirome Market for the Katsuo tataki but it’s just out of the way and not worth the trip for just that. Any recommendations for best places to find it in the north would be amazing!

We’re going in February.

Day 1

Morning – travel from Kyoto to Tokushima

Afternoon- Go on a Naruto Whirlpools viewing boat trip.

Day 2

Morning- travel to Takamatsu

Afternoon- visit Ritsurin Gardens

Day 3

Travel by ferry to Shodoshima island

Rent bikes(?) to visit the Olive Park, Yama Roku Soy Sauce, Angel Road (Kankakei Ropeway)?

-OR-

Mt Yashima and Yukakutei (are these worth visiting? I don’t think I can fit these and Shodoshima in the same day and we’re planning to go to other mountain observation decks)

Day 4

Morning- travel to Kanonji

Visit Shiudeyama for sunset (kind of worried about getting to this one without a car)

Day 5

Mt Takaya Shrine

Chichibugahama beach for sunset

Day 6

Morning- travel to Imabari

Kurashima Strait Observation deck

Day 7

Ride the Shimanami Kaido (only halfway since we need to go back to Imabari)

Day 8

Morning- travel to Matsuyama

Dogo Onsen(?—I love sento and would love to see it but my husband is not a fan. Are there private rooms or any other suggestions here? Is it even worth visiting or too touristy?)

Fly back to Tokyo

Thanks!
