HomeResidents in JapanWhat’s worth going for the name brand in Japan vs getting a store brand? Which store brands are good enough or better than name brand?
Many conbini brand snacks are made by name brand companies, some are even the exact same thing but cheaper.
Chu-hai. Suntori or Kirin or I’d rather drink One Cup.
The only time I buy name brand products is when Paypay runs a 40% off campaign for Kao products.
I never had an issue with Topvalu household products. Their basic ingredients and pasta are good too.
NipponHam チキチキボン. It’s like crack, but it’s expensive for the ammount of wings you actually get. I limit myself to only getting it once per month.

Our local supermarket is Life. Smile life brand black tea bags just don’t do it for me. I don’t by store brand milk or bread unless I’m desperate. I also think brand name tansansui is just better. Gentler on the stomach or so it feels. Everything else, meh. It’s fine.
Familymart brand cleaning products, sponges, cling wrap, detergent are excellent. I prefer their cling wrap to other store brands.
Lawson 100 brand shokupan is also nice! Oh and their chocolate churos donuts are to die for!
Quickle floor wipes. I’m literally obsessed. I not only wipe the floors with them but also use them to foam clean the sink, toilet seat, bathroom and toilet floors. My current favorite is Quickle lime, the strong lime scent is so good when I’m cleaning the toilet and bathroom. There’s nothing else on the market that’s comparable.
I love the Quickle 食卓クイックル ウェットクロス in green packaging for cleaning the dining table, I also clean my kitchen counter with this product. It’s specifically designed for the dining room table. I was so disappointed with the cheaper knock offs..
I’m also a fan of Scrubbing Bubbles toilet cleaning stamp but they’re pretty expensive, I wish I could find a good knock off..? Scrubbing Bubbles make our toilet smell really nice.. for a toilet..

For toilet tablets, knock off brands are fine.
