Would you spend a day in Miyajima or Kanazawa?

I’m in the beginning stages of planning my second trip to Japan. I missed Osaka on my first trip and so my tentative plan is a few days in Osaka, heading down to Kyushu for a while, hitting Uji and a few things in Kyoto I missed for another few days, and then getting back to Tokyo where I will fly out. I have a limited number of days in there where I can either stop over in Miyajima/Hiroshima between Fukuoka and Kyoto, or head up to Kanazawa before I get back to Tokyo.

My main interests are shrines/temples, historic neighborhoods, and nature hikes. I’ll be doing a ton of my own research between them, but curious for those of you who have been to both, which (if you had to choose) you would recommend.

The other thing I’m toying with is instead of either of these, making my way into Tsumago-Jugo and walking part of the Nakesando Trail, but I’m more hesitant of this for the public transportation there and back and my limited time. I also may cut some of Kyoto to add more time elsewhere since I have been there, but the Fushimi Inari hike was one of my favorite parts of my last trip and I’d love to do it again!
