Can an ALT or teacher get sued/charged/arrested in japan for helping a student or confronting/reporting their aggressor?

I come from a part of Canada where bullying is met with a lot of condemnation and efforts to re-educate the bully (sometimes they might do community service). There was another post on here discussing how as an ALT, that OP was told not to overstep when they recogized potential signs of bullying/abuse on a student. Lots of schools say they’ll take action but never do either out of apathy or fear of bad publicity, so I was wondering what would happens to teachers/ALT’s in Japan who circumvent norms/culture and address the issue directly?
