Questions about teaching English in Japan. Master’s and the 12 year restriction for non-native-speakers

Greetings! I would love to work teaching in an university or academy in Japan.

My qualifications are the following.

English philology university degree (1 year left)

C1 Cambridge/CAE (planning to get a C2/CPE)

N3 in Japanese (planning to get N1, I know this is very important and dificult to achieve, I am pretty much studying a bit of japanese every day, and saving money to join an intensive course in japanese in japan to learn the language well in 2025/2026)

However since I am not a native English speaker I am worried about the "12 years of English medium education". I had English classes in since 3rd elementary but I think this refers to the school/highschool main language being English, and it wasn't. My degree tough should count. Its a 4-year degree, however I have been doing it since 2018 since I also was working on the side, and took one of the years off (so I have been studying 5 years now, 6 when I am finished next year, I dont know if that counts or what matters is total course years (4))

Is there a way to circumvent that or should I focus on teaching my native language instead.

Also, would getting a Master degree help? and is it preferable to get it in Japan if I want to teach here or in some English-speaking country?
