Can the ni particle be applied to any continuous verb?

So, if I understand right, the ni particle can sometimes refer to the object a verb is continuously being performed on. Like sitting on a chair, or riding a bike. Because that object is in a way the "destination" of that verb. Can this apply to any object any verb is continuously being performed on? Compared to wo/o, which is only when the verb is performed on an object once?

What makes me ask this question is because I heard the particle used to describe resembling someone, and Im a little confused. The specific line is "Niteiru na, kono Dio ni" – "You seem to resemble me, Dio." – is that use correct or does it sound quirky?

The reason im asking is because that character has a rather unique way of speaking, like refering to themselves with "kono" , so I am not sure if thats a correct use of ni or if its another speech quirk.
