Hi all,
We will be going to Japan 30th of September until the 16th of October, where we will visit Tokyo, Takayama, and Kyoto. I require some feedback and tips for the Tokyo part of the trip, it is very much appreciated 🙂
Day 1 (Tuesday): Arrival at Narita airport (around 11:30 local time). We will arrange our Suica cards, cash and move towards our hotel (Century tower) which is very close to the Shinjuku station. As we will most likely have a jetlag and might be a bit tired from the travel, we will take it a bit east this day. We were thinking of walking in the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, walk through Shinjuku, and eat/drink at the Golden-Gai, and at the end of the day enjoy the view from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building.
Day 2 (Wednesday): We will walk from our hotel in Shinjuku to Meiji Jingu, and then make our way to Harjuku and explore that part a bit. After that we will walk further to Shibuya City, visit the Hachiko memorial Statue, Crossing and explore some shops, have food and enjoy the atmosphere until we return to Shinjuku. Is Shibuya sky worth it?
Day 3 (Thursday): Here, we will make a day trip to Kamakura, and explore the highlights there (Bamboo forest, Temples, Beach) and return to Shinjuku after where we will have dinner and enjoy the evening.
Day 4 (Friday): Early visit to teamLab Borderless, after we will check Tokyo tower, perhaps visit Aoyama Cemetery (although that's a bit out of area), Zojo-ji temple and cemetery for Tokugawa Shoguns. We will walk towards Hamarikyu Gardens and enjoy that for a bit, after we will take public transport to Tokyo main station, where we will walk around the station, and check out the Imperial Palace gardens.
Day 5 (Saturday): Early morning go to Asakusa to visit the Senso-ji, and Nakamise dori street, hoppy street and Sumida river. Than we want to walk to Ueno Park (w/ Buddha), maybe Yanaka Cemetery as well, and later go to Akihabara if time remains and have food and drinks there.
Day 6 (Sunday): Debating if we want to do day trip for Hakone (Ropeway, hiki, boatrrip) or explore more of Tokyo. What do you think?
Day 7 (Monday): Train to Takayama
This is the short version. Are there things that I missed and really should explore? For the Day 6 what do you think? maybe Hakano is a bit much and visiting other parts of Tokyo might be more appropriate as we will see some nature as well in Takayama. Also, we were thinking of maybe vising a theater (Kabukiza Theater) or workshop (Tea Ceremony)?
Thanks so much in advance:)
