First hours Japan…

I’ve just arrived in Japan, and while the people are incredibly friendly and everything is super organized and clean, my first experience with the train system was a bit confusing.

After landing at Narita Airport, I needed to take the orange line to reach my destination. I bought my tickets—one large and one small—and inserted both into the gate as instructed. Once on the train, I realized everyone had pre-allocated seats, and I didn’t receive any ticket confirming my seat number so I went back to the information desk. The staff there were very kind, retrieved my tickets from the gate, and directed me to the correct platform.

I took the train from platform 5 on the orange sky line, and while it mostly followed the expected route, it didn’t fully match what Google showed me. I ended up getting off at the last stop, where I needed to switch to the pink (E20) line. However, my Suica card wouldn’t work at the gate for the next line. After speaking with the staff, who advised me to go to a JR railway station, I decided to take a taxi instead due to exhaustion after over 20 hours of travel.

Just wondering what went wrong here with the tickets, should I only have inserted one? And what could be the reason my Suica card didn’t work it had money on it I bought it before travel and added it to my phone. Maybe that line is not included?

Thanks and any tips are welcome! 🙏🏻
