LINEMO data plan?

Has anybody any experience with LINEMO data plan?
I am going to Japan in October and I would like to have a sim card with a data plan (I already have a phone that is compatible). I expect I will mainly be using Line or email to talk to people, so I have been looking for some cheap data plans and I’ve come across LINEMO. Does anyone has any experience with this? Or is there any better option?

  1. I have it. It works fine, is pretty cheap, has plenty of data. The only thing is I think the number of actual minutes of phone calls you get per month is pretty low and the cost for calls can add up. I almost never make phone calls or can use voip so that isn’t realy an issue for me. I’d recommend it but that’s just my experience

  2. Never heard of LineMo but what’s your budget? I use UQ Mobile and it uses the same network as AU. It’s about 2,700 a month for 15 gb (5 gb less than LineMo). I haven’t had any issues with it.

  3. I use LINEMO 20GB pack. I think it works just fine. I started calling people from the line app because transfer from the app is free so it makes a lot of sense to use linemo.

  4. I do, been on 20 GB plan, it works fine and I have no complaint so far (although been to some rural area and practically no reception). On such data plan it is one of the cheapest options out there.

I guess the annoying thing I have is they don’t accept changing payment method online (meanwhile my credit card is expiring in few months). Instead they sent me a postcard to write down all detail to switch payment method which I haven’t taken care of yet. So might want to pay extra attention on which credit card information you put in the first time.

There’s also an option to pay with PayPay but I haven’t explored that option far yet.

Also another annoying thing is you would need another working Japan SIM card for OTP SMS during registration & login. I bothered my friend a couple times thanks to this, so I guess no harm in purchasing prepaid sim card on airport till you get the LINEMO one (not sure if you can just register abroad & pickup LINEMO on airport instead or not)
