When someone asks me “りんごが好きですか。” can I just answer with: “好きです。” I’ve seen that you can do that with verbs but since “好き” is an adjective I was wondering if the same applies.
Yeah, japanese people love to skip the topics, if you want to sound a bit more polite though but not repeat the same thing you can also just say はい、好きです or うん、好きです
Yeah, it’s not about the reply being a verb, so much as its being a predicate (of which verbs are one type).
It is commonly done with adjectives.
来週はお忙しいですか？
はい、忙しいです。
Yeah, generally it’s applicable, in casual conversations especially. “りんごを食べますか？” “はい、食べます” Maybe in situations where you want to be more polite or just flex your sentence making muscles, you’d include the subject. It’s completely common to remove it though once it’s being mentioned. At least, that’s been my experience
