21 day Itinerary – Oct. 29 – Nov 19 Comprehensive trip across Japan

Hello,

I recently completed my itinerary for my trip to japan this fall, and since I was issued a eVisa I am now 99% sure i’ll be able to go as planned. This is my first time to Japan, and i’ll be traveling alone (23 M).

I just figure if anyone wants to give it a read, Id be gracious to hear any feedback. Also, for those who have been to japan during the Autumn, what sort of things do you recommend packing? Also, what sort of footwear would be suitable?

Thank you very much,

AD

  1. Great itinerary!
For the 31st Oct Fuji Q I would consider a mostly day trip. I’ve been a couple times and some of the lines for the rides can take up to an hour to get in. It doesn’t seem like you’ll manage to get through it in 2 hours and doesn’t make sense if you’re buying a day pass.

  2. Planning your trip in 15 minute increments, down to when you’ll wake up and where you’ll have breakfast, is a bit excessive IMO. A lot of the fun in visiting Japan is finding unexpected things. I’d suggest that you relax your itinerary to allow space to wander around and enjoy yourself, as the current plan looks exhausting.

Some of your days also look too busy. For 4 November, for instance, each of those art galleries and museums warrant more time, and the Skytree is a long way from the Diet.

Also, don’t go to Japan and eat at the Hard Rock Cafe! Japanese food is some of the best in the world.

  3. Way too packed as far as I know. I am not even sure if some of your very early morning/late evening section is even feasible (as in, apart from walking though empty, dark street). Also not sure if you have factored in walking time and time for getting lost in your travel time.

  4. I concur that there is a lot going on with the level of planning but judging by the specific times you’ve mapped out exactly how long it takes you to get places, so I guess how long you spend there is entirely your discretion, althought I’d really build in some slack in the times.

Hedgehog cafe is a sad place to go, you’d be sitting with some sleepyboys that really don’t wanna hang out while the staff will keep waking them up so that you can have some interaction with them which will just make you feel worse imo. I don’t want to tell you not to go – after all I went as well – but hopefully this gives you a little more context for your decision!
