Struggling to Fit a Countryside Excursion In: Lots of Options!

Hi all – I'm planning a 2-week trip to Japan this November with my girlfriend. We plan on starting with 4.5 days in Tokyo, and at some point we will do 3ish days in Kyoto (skipping Osaka), but we're really looking forward to a relaxing stay somewhere in the countryside. It's also a bit overwhelming with all the options, plus taking into account the travel logistics. Here are some of the ideas we're mulling over:

  • Fujikawaguchiko – would love to see Fuji and explore the area, but would be a real bummer if the weather ends up poor and we can't move this around.
  • Hakone + Izu: Some amazing ryokans here, plus it's not too difficult logistically.
  • Takayama + Shirakawago: Love the architecture here and the mountain vibe, but logistically more difficult to get to.
  • Kiso Valley: Lots of nature out here. Similarly out of the way like Takayama.
  • Kinosaki Onsen: There are a few amazing ryokans here that interest us, but it's definitely out of the way. Not sure it makes sense to go all the way out there just for a ryokan stay.

We'd like to avoid areas which are too crowded with tourists, at least to the extent that's possible during this time of year. Maybe we can combine two of these areas, or would that be too much moving around?Any advice would be appreciated, thanks so much 🙂
