I won one of those “win a holiday of a lifetime” competitions, I have a value of £10k and can go anywhere in the world. Money includes flights, accommodation, airport transfers, and rather vague but “excursions or tours”. When I asked them to clarify, I was told “anything that can be booked by a travel agent”, i.e. they won’t give me money to pay for entry tickets, but I guess if a travel agent could hypothetically book it then they will pay it?
I opted for Japan, and I have 5 days left to give them my itinerary – location, hotels, excursions etc.
I have some ideas but thought it might be fun to ask on here for some advice, as I’m a bit overwhelmed and obviously don’t have a lot of time to research it all to get the full use of the £10k. Absolutely willing to contribute to this with my own spending money, but it would be fun to use the full budget if possible! Flying from Glasgow to Tokyo (for two people will take maybe £2k off the budget if flying end of September and returning mid October?) and thinking of going to Kyoto and Osaka as well. I can take 3 weeks off work, this includes travel time.
Food and drink is number 1 priority for me, but really interested in anything weird and wonderful, historical, nature… anything!
