Something I see regularly on Japanese auctions or marketplaces online is where the seller will say that they fon't know how long they can relist the item for so they will have to discard it if it continues not to sell.
Meanwhile, the price is NOT low. It is often a rare item. They could easily get a sale if only the price were lowered but it feels like they would rather "discard" it than lower the price to make some money off of it.
Why do they do this? Pride? A sales tactic? If it's a pressure tactic I will admit that it has worked on me on occasion.
I'm talking specifically about more expensive/rare items. I can understand why someone would do this on a cheap item that has little interest but those are usually not the cases where I even see this.
