Hey guys! Hope everyone is doing well!
My wife and I planning to immigrate to Japan and have some concerns about how well we will be able to integrate into the local culture. For those of you who have lived or currently live in Japan as foreigners, how did you find the experience of blending in with the Japanese people? Were there any particular challenges in forming friendships or becoming part of the community?
I'm also worried about potentially being targeted or treated differently because of my foreign background. Have any of you faced discrimination, exclusion, or difficulties in daily life because you weren’t Japanese? If so, how did you cope with it, and what strategies helped you navigate those situations? What advice would you offer to someone like me who's anxious about these aspects of moving to Japan?
(I’m white, 22, and Christian if any of that matters)
