During the fall illumination dates, if visiting Kiyomizudera through sunset, do you have to exit and reenter for the nighttime illumination?

I'm finding conflicting and only vague info online for this, so hoping that someone might have an answer or has experience with this.

I'll be in Kyoto late November, and on one of my days, I'm hoping to visit Kiyomizudera a little before sunset to catch it during the day, into sunset, and into the night for the fall illumination event. I know some temples will close and reopen prior to their fall illuminations with a separate entrance fee, but it seems like Kiyomizudera might just have extended hours? Does that mean I can enter during the day and stay through the night? Or will I have to exit and then queue up to reenter?
