Sane 2.5 Day Kyoto Itinerary?

Hi everyone! :),

My friend and I will be visiting Japan late October, and are still planning our trip,

We're visiting a lot of places and ultimate out allocation to Kyoto came down to 2.5 days, and we were wondering if our plan is sane / the pace is good / how rush it is.

Please feel free to flip and manipulate the itinerary as you see fit, I would like to hear your suggestions

Kyoto will be our first stop, we will be arriving at Haneda airport, staying there for the night, and leaving by a Shinkansen (through Yokohama ASAP), so we will be starting our day in Kyoto (after checking in hotel and everything ) at let's 12PM:

Day 1

  1. Kinkaku-ji: Might as well go there at the start, will get there through public transportation.
  2. Nijo Castle: A beautiful sight and it's UNESCO status makes it extra appealing.
  3. Nishiki Market: Heard about this place a lot, especially on social media, whether it might be a tourist scam or not, it's apparently a big part for us to miss out on.
  4. Pontocho Alley: Dinner and strolling mainly, end day there as we walk alongside Kamo River**.**

Day 2

  1. Fushimi Inari Taisha: Might as well be our Kyoto highlight, place looks MAGNIFICENT.
  2. Kiyomizu-dera: Beautiful temple with city view.
  3. Sannenzaka & Ninenzaka: same as Fushimi Inari, these two places feel like Japan essenials and we will make sure to enjoy them to the fullest
  4. Maruyama Park: Park looks beautiful, though we will allocate time accordingly and if there isn't really any, we would rather skip it (Or skip temple below, spend time here until sunset and continue to Shirakawa Lane).
  5. Ryōzen Kannon Temple: Temple honestly looks grand, and we would love to visit it since it's nearby, again if there are time constraints then we will pass.
  6. Shirakawa Lane: Stroll and dinner.

Day 3

  1. Arashiyama Bamboo Forest: Fascinating views
  2. Arashiyama Monkey Park: Might as well since they're super close
  3. Togetsukyo Bridge: Also in same area, but if we're short on time we will skip it.

Basically, we will be leaving for Nara and would like to arrive there at around 2PM, so third day is more of a half a day if not less.

I also considered Otagi Nenbutsu-ji & Adashino Nenbutsu-ji for the 3rd day in place of what's planned, since they're more out of the way I gave them less priority.

Would love to hear what you guys think, I'm all ears for suggestions.

Thank you!
