After hotel and travel accommodations, I have about $3500 left for food, shopping, and traveling. I will be by myself for 2 weeks. Unfortunately, I’m an impulsive spender and I’m also a huge fan of anime and video games . On top of that, I’d like to experience good food and travel around when I’m there . Is $3500 enough for me? I’ll be going in about a month

The yen is weak at the minute and honestly from what I’ve seen I don’t think Japan is that expensive at all in terms of food and that. I mean if you wanna eat a Michelin stars and spend loads you definitely could

That should give you a rough idea of what to expect.
That works out to a budget of $250/day which should be totally doable, but of course it depends on how much you plan to buy, and on what. If you take a few longer Shinkansen rides will eat up some budget too. Good food could qualify as a 1200 yen bowl of ramen, or a 30,000 yen Omakase meal.
To get a better sense of if it’s realistic for you, start putting in the prices of some meals you know you want to have, items you know you want to buy, or think you could see yourself purchasing and pop them in a spreadsheet, which can easily keep a running tally.
Sit down and make a budget. Leave yourself some wiggle room for impulse purchases, overpriced airport food, etc. I bought pretty much whatever I wanted and definitely didn’t spend close to $3,500 though.
Could do 2 weeks including accommodation and flight for that budget.
It can go wrong if you carelessly spend from the minute you land, but it’s a generous budget if you ask me.
Japan likes cash and is safe. A good way to avoid overspending is to carry X amount of cash, but no credit card (leave it at the hotel). That way, you cannot spend more than what you have on hand.
