On a visit to Kyoto in Nov 2011, I stumbled upon this restaurant in Pontocho alley. It was one of those experiences that haunts you in the best way…from the agedashi tofu to the yakatori and the ground mustard served on the side for dipping, to the drinks and the beautiful folks behind the grill – pure magic.
I've been back to Japan many times but only once made it back through Pontocho to look for it again.
Locals waved me off but I couldn't get clear on what happened. Did it close? Relocate? Anyone visit the restaurant or work there around 2011?
Any amazing yakatori recommendations in Kyoto? (I understand it's not very popular there).
Is the Google translation (2nd photo) accurate?
I'm headed back to Kyoto in November for my 8th trip to Japan. I'm taking my husband and my folks and hoping to treat them to a similar standout experience.
Thank you in advance!
