Night life in Kyoto

Hello, 

I am wondering about the night life in Kyoto. I am doing 3 nights in Osaka and 3 in Kyoto and am not sure which half to put over the weekend. I want to have the option to go out to bars/karaoke etc when I'm in Kyoto. Does anyone have any recommendations? I am going early December.

I am also looking for some restaurant recommendations for a group of 12 that is authentic and that I can pre book.
