Lost Wallet Promptly Returned to Nearest Police Koban

I thoughtlessly dropped my wallet at one point along my commute home through Shibuya. It had credit cards, a bunch of cash, and gasp my residence card. I reported the loss promptly to nearest koban, and the staff said another booth had already reported they found it. All in all, I only had to spend a relatively breif period fearing the worst. Thank you good samaritan for returning the wallet untouched. It’s a humbling and kind reminder of a major perk of Japan that most people on average seem to be of upstanding character. In retrospect, I wish I asked the koban if I could somehow pass along a cash reward to the finder, but I’m guessing that is not typical?
